PAINLESS IN FLIGHT
I sometimes live in long ago
I sometimes feel I’m there
I cannot live in the present
I don’t know if I’m here or where
Time passes and days go by
I do not see them pass
So while I live within my dreams
It’s like living in a darkened glass
I’m missing out on today’s joys
Because yesterday holds me fast
I want to really live today
And move beyond the past
I want to wipe away my memory
And begin to live again
In a world where there is laughter
And the sun can enter in
But today there is no sunshine
Today there is only dreams
Of hurts and pain and sadness
And the sounds of anguished screams
Behind the clouds the sun still shines
And somewhere the world is bright
I think at last I’ll find that world
When I at last take flight
