IN ITS PATH, NOTHING STAYS THE SAME

The wind cannot be seen –
Only its affect on the objects around it.
It lets its mark as it flows across the earth
In its path nothing stays the same

The trees on its course cannot stop it
It will just go around it
Taking pieces of everything it touches
In its path nothing stays the same

The tallest mountains cannot withstand its power
They are slowly changed with each passing breeze
Leaves and earth picked up and re-deposited
In its path nothing stays the same

The mighty ocean is tossed to and fro
Constantly eating away at the earth
Powered by a force we cannot see
In its path nothing stays the same

Sometimes it becomes destructive and forceful
The damage it causes cannot be fixed
It changes lives and breaks spirits
In its path nothing stays the same

Love is like the wind, it cannot be seen
Its affect on the one it is given to is evident
It lets footprints on a heart that cannot be erased
In its path nothing stays the same

Love can overcome the obstacles it encounters
Even when the mind says no the heart takes over
Tiny pieces of a heart claimed until it is consumed
In its path nothing stays the same

The trials of life can toss it to and fro
Trying to eat away at it and destroy it
But two souls truly joined in love can persevere
In its path nothing stays the same

Two souls become one dwelling in two bodies
Living separately yet always united
Overpowering and always growing
In its path nothing stays the same

Sometimes it becomes hurtful and deceptive
The damage it causes cannot be fixed
Broken hearts sometimes cannot go on
In its path nothing stays the same
