THE BUTTERFLY

Oh pretty little butterfly
Why did you come my way?
As I sat beneath my trees
Just kicking back to watch the day

You fluttered past then circled
To alight upon my knee
Can’t help but think there’s something
That you want to say to me

You are the great transformer
From cocoon you seek the sky
A message that should live
Inside our hearts that we should fly

I’m told you are a Monarch
And you’re leaving straightaway
I thank you for your message
And for stopping by today
