ROAD WORK

I’m well aware of just how long
This road of mine has been
Ahead there waits an ending
I can’t say for now just when

But it has been a ride indeed
In search of open plain
To get there means thru valleys
I must go through full of pain

Yet that’s the way life is I think
These hills along the road
My pack is growing heavy
But I still can take the load

One thing that I have learned
Is you must love without regret
For there is nothing sadder than
To love and then forget
