Russell G. Robison

There was hardness in his eyes
That I could always see
But I was young and didn’t know
How tough this world can be

I recall so many things
That he would always say
Just simple little truths he knew
To help me on my way

Remember every word he said
When he would criticize
Whenever I was weary
And considered compromise

He did the best that he could do
And mom was by his side
We never really had a lot
But man we sure had pride

Hey Dad you were the best
But most of all you were my friend
I’ll treasure every word you said
Until the very end
