Russell G. Robison

I had a confrontation
With the neighbor’s cat today
He said my car was his and
On its roof was where he’d stay

Now I had things to do
But he suggested that I wait
Though asked to reconsider
A delay would make me late

Its said that dogs have owners
And that cats have only staff
So I informed this cat
How should I word his epitaph

He changed his mind abruptly
As I roared out of the drive
Gave me a look that said now
Don’t you dare come back alive
