SHADOW ON THE SUNRISE

Some words that come to mind inside
When I confront my soul
Demanding why it let me live
This life out of control

The mirror that I gaze upon
Just stares right back at me
And says you were the one who chose
A life of fight to free

There I was burned the darkest way
I fought and killed for lies
And that leaves such a truth
My soul could never sterilize

A shadow on each sunrise
A wounded truth profound
A truth learned on the battlefield
The price of hallowed ground
