Richard W. Reith

The thing that he has always known,
The concept in her he never inspired –
We don’t do what we feel, or is easy,
With love we do what’s required…

She gives in to destructive feelings;
Feeds them with imaginings and fears.
She never works to support their love,
Coldly watching as love disappears.

Supporting the unsupportable
With whatever she must believe.
Working to destroy the vows they said.
While to their vows he knows he must cleave.

Letting little things become burdens,
She didn’t know the important thing
Is understanding what is important,
Not letting emotions be king.

So she will walk away from eternal love
Never looking back at her man
And he will wait till his end of days
To return with her to where they began.
