HOW DO YOU TELL THE CHILDREN?
How sad the youth of today
will live the rest of their lives
perhaps without their arms,
their legs, learning to use
artificial means
unable to get around
without the help of
a wheelchair
having to explain to
their children why
daddy isn't walking
or why mommy isn't
able to use her hands
and why the whole family
suffers together because
when one is hurting
everyone hurts
How do you tell
the children
and will they
be able to understand
in their innocent world
that things happen
sometimes even
without a reason
How do you tell
the children that
when mommy or
daddy went off to war
they had a job to do
and that there are no
guarantees in war
that they would return
as they were before
You tell the children
with love... love the
great healer of all time
Mommy and Daddy
gave so much
of themselves
their love for
their fellow man, their
country, and even other
little children in faraway
places, so that this powerful
love, a love worth
fighting for may someday
help others to live
in a world that we know
in love and peace.
