GOLD STAR WIFE

A Gold Star Wife is wise beyond her years
She has had to move on amidst her own fears
So many emotions to rise above
All the while missing the man she's loved
Perhaps there were children young at the time
Babies in arms without nursery rhymes
A dual role for this strong women of heart
Picking up the pieces that war did impart
Looking into her eyes what do I see?
Sadness for what became her destiny
Slowly the years have dried some of the tears
For a Gold Star Wife and the Gold Star she wears.

To all the Gold Star Wives we know by name
Ones we don't know the sentiment is the same
The sacrifice has not been in vain
Thanking you and yours again and again.
