A Gold Star Mom
Frances turns 90 today
A special woman in her own way
Gold Star Mother is the title she wears
A wisp of a woman with a heart that cares.
She lost her son during the Viet Nam War
The ultimate price ending his tour
The veterans have become her boys
To their lives she brings them joys.
Ceremonies, parades, vigils too
She gives of herself as if she knew
Her presence helps to ease the pain
Her sacrifice not for profit or gain.
Crusader for freedom she knows the cost
From a mother's heart when all is lost
Husband and son smile from heaven above
For they know she'll say "it's only love."
Love for her fellow man it's true
She volunteers at the vets hospital too
A woman with energy to keep on giving
Her only thought is to help the living.
So on this very special day
We come with our wishes and to say
With all the love and joy your heart can hold
For you, Frances, are made of gold.
