BROTHERS AGAIN

The young boys who left so long ago
Are middle aged now and older
They continue to bond with their fellow man
Their stories are true and bolder.

"Brothers" once again they've become
It's a different place, a different war
Suffering the effects of days gone by
So many years to settle the score.

Now in a hospital they stay for treatments
They wish to put it all behind
Helping each other throughout the days
Truer friends you will not find.

Playing cards and bingo to pass the time
They smile and joke amidst their pain
Courageous and brave once again
Will they find the sun after the rain?

So you see their war never ends
It takes from outside and within
The cards that life has dealt them
A situation without an end.

They have given their whole life
Of themselves one hundred percent
For you and me, a land that's free
Do we realize what their sacrifice meant?
