James R. Randall
Jim Randall at the Security Police Wall of HonorBorn in Detroit, Michigan on May 26, 1949, Jim enlisted in the USAF on November 14, 1968. He graduated from Security Police Technical School and was assigned to K.I. Sawyer AFB (SAC) on March 6, 1969.
Upon arrival in Vietnam on January 12, 1970, Jim served with the 12th and 483rd SPS, Phantom flight, Cam Rahn Bay RVN. He qualified as a Certified Mortar Gunner, AF Heavy Weapons School, Phan Rang. His most unforgettable experience was a firefight with NVA sappers in front of Naval Air Facility, Cam Rahn Bay on June 12, 1970.
His DEROS from Vietnam was September 15, 1970 due to emergency leave, and was then reassigned to 317th SPS, Lockbourne AFB (SAC) at Columbus, Ohio before being honorably discharged February 5, 1971.
Jim served seven years as R.R. Police Officer in Detroit, Michigan before working for 20 years as Television photojournalist for ABC and NBC affiliates in Tucson, Arizona where he lives today with Yolanda (his high school sweetheart whom he married on May 17, 1969) and their two sons, James and Richard.
