I THOUGHT ABOUT YOU
With hot cup of coffee, I sat on the porch,
Watching the sun rise anew.
Lost and alone in a Mom’s grieving world,
This morning, I thought about you.
O’er there are the woods where battles were fought,
On lazy, hot summer afternoons.
Victory declared when the enemy was caught,
Then off to ‘shoot for the moon’.
Next to the barn lies a rusty old bike,
With wheels long rotted away.
If metal could talk, the stories she’d tell,
Of games that little boys play.
Years came and went, faster it seemed,
As you grew into Mom’s little man.
From playing with caps and make-believe guns,
‘Forts’ are now built in the sand.
When America called out for justice that day,
You said, “I’ll give it my best.”
The pride we all felt as you marched off to war,
Gave hope that our Country is blessed.
Memories are seared in a Mom’s broken heart,
The sounds of a slamming car door,
“Ma’am, we are sorry to report that your son…
… With full Military escort.”
We hold onto medals, accepted your Flag,
Watched as they carefully lay down,
A box made of wood that encases our world,
As “Taps” sadly echoed ‘round.
Time marches on, it never stands still,
Has it been one year or two?
With each sunrise and every sunset,
Your Mama has thought about you.

Author’s Note: Good morning dear friends and family,
As many of you know, 7 weeks ago today, Ed and I lost a son… someone so very precious that we’re reliving each and every moment (still) of that fateful day. God is truly working within our hearts for a peace and understanding… this will take time.
As I watched the sun rise on this glorious autumn morning, sipping my coffee, the old mind ‘traveled down memory lane’. I thought about each and every Mom I’ve come to know over the past 7 weeks, Moms who’ve sent the most precious cards, Moms who’ve lost a child themselves and these words came…
May the Creator continue to heal each of our hearts…
Blessings and love to all,
Lynn Price
