FRIENDS FOR ETERNITY

Sgt. Carlos E. PernellAndy and Carlos were comrades and friends,
Their training they relied on, in each other, they’d depend.
Who would’ve known they’d leave us so soon,
With so much to live for and so much to do.
Carlos was born deep in the south,
Determined and outgoing, he made his folks proud.
Hattie remembers her free spirit son;
Eugene knew Carlos would always have fun.
“Bama” made friends with his deep country laugh;
Long nights spent recalling his days as a lad.
Wood was his specialty, the things he could build,
With an infectious smile and ‘can do’ strong will.
“Bama” met Tiffanie and soon they were wed,
When Kassidie was born, how their lives were blessed.
Now he must leave his family behind,
In joining the Army, a mission’s defined.
Great structures were built out there in the sand;
The skills of a carpenter are high in demand.
For reasons unknown, news crosses the wires,
Two more of our Heroes taken down by enemy fire.
America grieves along with their kin,
Described as ‘true warriors’ by the rest of their men.
God’s Angels descend to lead the way home,
Friends for eternity; in death they’re not alone.
