LIFE IS GOOD

Today New England rose from the dead
The air crisp and clean our souls free from dread
Three friends riding down old ice crusted roads
My loving wife listening as two Mates unload

We laughed we cried and beheld snow covered trees
My mate swore he’d never seen sights such as these
Light snow weightless upon the evergreen bows
For the first time in years, I live in the here and now.

Laugh? I guess! Never missed it till it was gone
My wife wondered why the joy had been gone so long
I tried to reply in my own simple way
We agreed it was because a true friend has brightened our day

We took photos beside an old war shrine
I heard me mate recite heart-felt words in strine
We saw together what I have not seen in twenty years
Oh, and yes, there were eyes brimming with tears

We talked of the Brothers and Sisters of BPJ
and felt blessed that God had sent them our way
The talent,
The friendship,
The enduring love
Yes we are blessed;
we thanked our God up above
