FREEDOM

Arlington National Cemetery: June 2004Freedom ain’t free
As we all know;
Our heroes’ memorials
So plainly show
What it takes to keep
America free
Goes way beyond
What the average man sees
Fields of emerald
Markers of white
Row after row
Extend farther than sight
The sacrifice of men
And women abound
Each day in America
Taps resound
Do you value freedom
More than the men who died?
Do you ignore the tears
Falling from a mothers eyes?
Have you thought much about
This precious liberty of yours?
Do you even see old glory flying
As you step out your front door?
Don’t just take for granted
What isn’t just owed to you
Our soldiers fought to bestow it
Courtesy of the red, white and blue
Our memorials are plenty
And we celebrate the day
But also remember our warriors
Who bring liberty your way
Today.
