For every story written, for every song been sung,
There lies the frightening tale of the damage war has done.
And now another chapter in the “storybook” of war
Reveals the cruel returning of a battle’s cry, once more.
Loyal to our Country, “Our Country ‘tis of thee”,
We strive for independence, and crave a life that’s free.
A message for our freedom is one we long to send
Though human lives are sacrificed as the means to freedom’s end.
I ask this final question, to try and understand:
“Must death and a ‘true hero’ go, forever, hand-in-hand?
