Occision is a fact of War;
reality that’s oft ignored
by those whose job it is to be
keepers of peace and sanity

Are the keepers at all aware
that on the field of battle there,
sons and daughters are scared to death
of having taken their last breath?

And when the flag draped coffins are
returned from whence the blinking star
has pulsed in its last dying throe…
I wonder, will the keepers know?

When fighting stops, and war is won,
and soldiers have returned back home,
will keepers know they have refined
occision of the heart and mind?
