A SOLDIER’S HANDS
Nuthin’ special ‘bout a soldier’s hands;
they keep account and till the land
They handle softly the ones they love
and fight and build and wear suede gloves
They clench to protect the weak and poor,
opening to give those with none some more.
Children grasp and hold them tight.
But they hold a rifle to ensure all’s right.
