PRAYER SONG FOR NEW YORK
HU! yeh-ho-wah
Oh NewYork
We are crying for you.
Your bodies fall like rain
To rise in smoke as souls of the slain.
HU! yeh-ho-wah
Oh NewYork
We send our hearts to you
To help hold your pain,
And the Eagle is flying your way.
HU! yeh-ho-wah
Oh NewYork
The sun will shine on you.
As we avenge your sorrow,
Healing will begin for you tomorrow.

Author’s Note: The original of this poem is written in Cherokee, but not too well because I’m not fluent despite my attempts to learn the language for a while now. Of course that didn’t stop me from trying to express myself. “NewYork” is meant to be said/sung as “all one word”, and its appearance as such in the poem is not a mistake.
