THE WARRIOR ETHOS

The Warrior Ethos is displayed on placards
at the entrance gates to Fort Carson, Colorado.

I WILL ALWAYS PLACE THE MISSION FIRST
I WILL NEVER ACCEPT DEFEAT
I WILL NEVER QUIT
I WILL NEVER LEAVE A FALLEN COMRADE

I WILL ALWAYS PLACE THE MISSION FIRST

Whatever the mission, whatever the job,
It will be first and foremost in my quest.
My personal problems will be left behind;
I will do my best… before I rest.

I WILL NEVER ACCEPT DEFEAT

I will never surrender of my own free will.
If captured, my body may be held secure,
But my spirit will remain defiant and free
And I will ask My God to help me long endure.

I WILL NEVER QUIT

There may be scorching heat or Arctic cold,
In jungle, in desert or on mountaintop.
Though the foe be strong, I will carry on;
I will not weaken, I will never stop.

I WILL NEVER LEAVE A FALLEN COMRADE

If he is wounded, he’ll not be alone.
I will render aid and comfort there and then.
And if he has made that brave and final sacrifice,
I’ll send him back to home and family, once again.
