OLD GLORY
I am a veteran, this is true.
But there is something I must tell you.
About a very dear old friend that is Red, White and Blue.
Her Stars are so very bright and shine within one’s heart;
Lying on a carpet that is such a very brilliant Blue.
This Great old friend, Old Glory
She flies so very high, for all of us to see.
She is so very brilliant
She lightens up the sky
She will never let you down, my friend
She is always there for you.
Her warmth will protect you, when you are down and out.
This flag that I would die for is Red, White and Blue.
Just to keep her safe at home and from the battlefields away.
She has kept me warm and protected, close to her embrace,
So far from home, where no man wants to tread.
I look at her in wonderment, she never loses face.
She is my love Old Glory; she helps me keep the Faith.
Chorus:
This great old flag Old Glory
She flies so very high
She is so very brilliant
She brightens up the sky.
So if by chance you need her love and are very far from home.
Look up and see, her loving arms unfold.
She will always be there for you;
Her love shinning through for all of us to see.
Old Glory is her name she loves us one and all.
And when I die Old Glory will cover me, and we will fly together, her and I.
Wrapped in her loving arms, safe in her caressing folds:
No worries, no fears but love untold.
This great old flag that I love so dear;
She has given me her care till the end of time.
Thank you Old Glory, for the love you have given all of us within your care.
Chorus:
This great old flag Old Glory
She flies so very high
She is so very brilliant
She brightens up the sky.
