As one who has been there, staring into the barrel of a gun,
as one who knows what it’s like to awaken drenched in sweat,
visibly shaking, reliving the horrors, each and every one,
I nominate “Unity’s Bond”, with its power to tersely reflect
in eloquent verse the understanding and knowing in my heart
of post traumatic disorders, that trust so hard to regain,
that friendship which grows, though oceans and worlds apart
the venom diluted, leaving love and trust the lasting stain.
