Nancy L. Meek

Oh, to pluck the seed of hate
from children not our own,
born to parents grown irate
from meddlers in their home,
who cannot wait until the day
they’re trained in how to kill
those they hate, their only way
of doing Allah’s will.

Will love of hating do us in,
the persistent foe it seems
or will love of loving one day win,
if only in our dreams?
