IN CASE ONE DOESN’T KNOW

Cannons on the battery
Stand cold and quiet in the sun,
No more to fight the mighty war…
No one to light the soldier’s gun.

Children mount the pyramid
Of cannon balls that stands nearby,
No more to land the fateful blow
No one to hear the soldiers cry.

Pigeons light to rest from flight
Upon the barrels standing there,
No more do cannons claim the lives
No one remembers… no one cares.
