CITY IN FEAR

Sad and ashamed I’m crying,
Can’t you see?
Look what this cruel world has done to me.
Once I was young and knew nothing of fear;
Now I am old and I can’t hide the tear.
Once there were many young children who played,
Many of them I know, sadly, are dead.
I recall the times when kind things were said,
I will not give up.
I will not despair.
I can feel peace is in the air.
I’m Belfast.
A City of fear and strife;
I’m thereabouts within your life.
