GUIDELINES FOR LINKING TO IWVPA
AUTOMATIC LINKING
The IWVPA Webmaster endeavours to ensure that all the authors of writings added are to IWVPA have an individual index page on which a short biography, a photograph and any links to a personal website, or website on which more of the authors writings are displayed and/or websites with which the author may be associated.
Likewise, we link award winning writings and sites to the respective Award Honour Rolls.
Of course, all links are only as effective as the latest information to hand. To provide for future inevitable broken links, the Board of Trustees has decided that unless notification is received regarding a change of URL of a link, a broken link will be removed.
- In the case of published works, the author's index and writings will be retained but the link will be removed.
- Broken links associated with the "Double Tap" and "Web Site Excellence" Awards will also be removed but the author and title of the work will remain listed on the respective Honour Rolls.
- In the case of the "Bronze Helmet" Award, broken links will be removed but the index and page containing the award winning work will be retained.
- In the case of paragraphs 1 and 3 above, the writings will be retained on the IWVPA site provided that no advice to the contrary is received.
VOLUNTARY LINKING
The IWVPA Webmaster administratively maintains two separate methods of linking.
- The IWVPA Web Ring, and
- The IWVPA Approved Links
To be approved for either of these linking procedures, your site must be about War and/or the consequences of War, about Veterans and/or Veterans' Affairs, or Veteran Support information sites; they do NOT have to include poetry or stories.
- IWVPA Web Ring:
- By submitting your site details to the WebRing linking facility that is accessible from the IWVPA Home Page, you are effectively applying to have your site linked with IWVPA.
- Once you have made this application, the Web Master will review your site to ascertain if it falls within the framework and guidelines for acceptance and will advise you accordingly.
- You will need to ensure that you register and obtain the necessary Web Ring Navigation Code that must be placed on you Web Site. Failure to place the navigation code on your site, and/or to maintain up-to-date information that results in a broken link, your site will be immediately removed from the Ring. To be reinstated, a completely new application is required. On instruction by the Board of Trustees, this action is taken automatically and the Web Master has no authority to bypass this procedure.
- IWVPA Approved Links:
- To make application for your website to be linked to the IWVPA website, you will need to send an email to the IWVPA Webmaster and include the following information:
- Site URL
- Your Website Name
- A brief description of your website (of about 150 words or less in length)
- To make application for your website to be linked to the IWVPA website, you will need to send an email to the IWVPA Webmaster and include the following information:
The administration of Approved Links is undertaken by the IWVPA Web Master. Broken links will be removed immediately but may be reinstated by contacting the IWVPA Webmaster with up-to-date details. The Web Master will randomly review previously approved sites and visit sites about which comments are received to ascertain their continued appropriateness.
