WINDOWS OF TIME
[Cream Reunion]

“Cream” performing live on Monday night (May 2, 2005) in London at the first of four reunion concerts. From left: Jack Bruce on bass, Ginger Baker on drums and Eric Clapton on guitar. My life is like the wind
there is nothing
that can hold it down.
Love and respect
are the coins for survival
and my face has all the creases
of my emotions.
The world turns faster now
than in my youth
and the falsehoods of yesteryear
are tarted up to look like truth.
The world lives through our excess
and another war of empire
the rotten system totters
and may soon expire.
None of us, thank the gods,
are forever;
none of us are quite that clever,
as the Cream flows from my speakers
and the old faces on my screen
were once baby bum smooth
with the cynical sneer of youth.
God, they were good, are good,
so good it was almost a crime
they were here for awhile
and then were gone
with only memory
hearing and seeing them
flashing through
that sweet
window of time.
