The news is never good
they have set up a petting zoo
of homeless people
in the neighbourhood.

It’s cheaper than actually
finding housing for the homeless
and give major kudos
to the adventure crowd
who can brag out loud
that they have actually
seen a “homeless” person.

The media has a feel good
story to put in their usual
“isn’t Awful” piece about the DTES
book ended
by Olympic sponsors
Mickey “Ds”
and Coke
although not the coke
of choice at the petting zoo.

THE WHOLE WORLD IS WATCHING
AND SO FAR WE HAVEN’T PAID OUR DUES.
Three thousand people living on the street
ain’t so neat
and I
HAVE A COFFEE BLUES
over at the DTES Petting Zoo.
