they have left this mortal coil
even though their genius
is still heard.

The singer in the street
does Gordon Lightfoot
better than Gordon Lightfoot.
This Kingston boy
has many friends in the hood
and the music he makes
is much better than good.

The young woman in the photo
sings perfect harmony
and there are smiles
all round on this just beginning to rain day
I only hope it won’t drive his audience away.
I have Monk on the sound track
and contemplate a movie.

Something that is going to be a zinger
the Green Zone;
a Sunday afternoon diversion
after listening to the
street singer.
