two people
different in place
different in time
but somehow the same

each searching
for his and her soul
in a
music store

the discovered treasure
of music
that attached us to a time
and a place

one in the prime
of life
the other
on the downward slope

my music plays
random pieces
selected by a program
and sets my mood

artists come alive
some from the distance of the grave
to play and sing the music
that surrounds and infiltrates my brain

and the toys of the past
turntables and vinyl
33 rpm or 45s
treasured icons of our past

some from before either of us
were born
like a 55 Chevy
the car of my teenage dreams

like a bad movie
with a great score
we smile and laugh
and dream some more

she doesn’t know it
but reading her piece
I saw her face
same time, same place
