my old mind forgot
was it really important or not

the three o’clock jazz
wakes up the buzzing in my ears
and when you become aware of the buzz
it can drive you to tears

my hands are in my lap
I’m withholding them
from the digital keyboard’s
tap tap tap

the illusive name came up and then
was gone again
and though the thought is still in early gestation
god damn it, what was the question

I have the coffee yips
and my mind is in the land of drunken trips
perhaps I should take a pill
even though I’m not really ill

where this is going
this forget me confusion infestation
and how long will it take to get from here to there is the
question
