LATE NIGHT, EARLY MORNING

Ashley and Timothymy butt has gone to sleep
and the jazz is on
but nothing quite
too deep
this computer
is the excellent way
to have the day
waste away
put on the kettle
old chap
and soon will have coffee
on tap
wrote to my poetry friend
in Aus
to send me back
some of my previous poetic flaws
breakfast with Tim and Ashley
first time I’ve seen them both
since the airport day
when Tim’s grandma gave the bride away
and why does my back
always itch
in a place
I can’t scratch
my man Jelly-roll Justice
on the sound track
and I will use the door jam
to scratch my back
like a bear
with a rubbing tree
and Cuban music
ahh that does the trick
what a sweet horn
and ain’t you glad you were born
and jazz was having its wondrous day
there is nothing as good coming this way
and on and on goes this song
WWOZ the only place to be its never boring
in the
late night early morning
