I’m older than rock and roll
and time has taken its toll
listening to the blues
after taking a shit kicking and paying my dues.

There is a sound track
running in my head
if I wasn’t hearing it
I would know I was dead.

When I’m in my blues trance
and everything seems wrong
I know it’s time
to get up and dance.

Everywhere and everyday
someone is crying or dying
but what the hell
it’s always been that way.

So with a smile in my heart
in my bubble of life on every day
I’ll try to laugh
and wish my troubles away.

It’s been quite awhile
since I’ve been shaken but not stirred
but things are just about all right
in my own world.

The girls of summer
are out in all their glory
it’s by all means look but don’t ever touch
the age old story.

So that’s what happens living and listening to the blues
and it’s the life that I have to choose
living by the sixteen bar music classic and words
in my own world.
