BITTER AS YESTERDAY’S COFFEE

when you find out that those
you thought were your friends
secretly dislike you
and only nice face you
to save a fuss
they find your overtures
of sharing their due
and discount the feeling
that went into it
taking you for granted

the night is darkest just before the dawn
and you should never let the doubts of the night
color your day
and no response is a response having no consequence
get over it
and get on with your life
otherwise
you will end up as
bitter as yesterday’s coffee
