we never thought we would get this old
and that’s the truth.
The step is not so quick these days
and we have to see and hear
in many different ways,
and all our minutes speed past in our day,
and we ache in the places where we used to play.
We still sing of new futures
as if we could live forever
even though we know
that can only be a day dream
of the sometime and the never.
The regiment remains shiny and true
and we look to that great reunion
of twenty and ten
one hundred fifty years
and all realize we won’t pass this way again
when some in the flesh
and some only in memory
will toast to our princess
and a future where the regiment
proud in its accomplishments
both in war and peace
goes forward into the future
faithful to Queen and Country
and it will be ever thus
true to our motto
IN PACE PARATUS.
