George S. Kulas

George S. KulasGeorge enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps on July 13, 1966. After serving 18 months in Vietnam with the 3rd Marine Division he left the military to attend college. After graduation from college, George enlisted in the Army on November 29, 1972.

During his career George served in various positions including five years with military intelligence, two years as an accounting instructor at the U.S. Army Finance School, Sergeant Major of the First FSU of the First Infantry Division (Big Red One) and culminating with an assignment as Sergeant Major of Central Pay Operations U.S. Army Finance & Accounting Center. His Army career took him to many interesting duty locations including Panama, South Korea and Okinawa.

While in the military George received numerous awards and decorations including: six Meritorious Service Medals, three Army Commendation Medals, two Army Achievement Medals and the Navy Achievement Medal with “V” device. He also received the U.S. Army Physical Fitness Excellence Badge for obtaining numerous perfect scores on the U.S. Army Physical Fitness Test.

On July 31, 1990 George retired from the military with twenty years of active duty service and is currently a freelance writer residing in Fond du Lac Wisconsin. He enjoys golfing and bowling and was very excited and “lucky” to roll a 300 game in bowling in 1998 and a 299 game this year (2001).
