TWO POEMS… AND A BROKEN HEART!
Only a soldier knows
the beauty of a girl
… smiling.
The meaning of home.
A wind that pulls upon a flag
at sunrise.
The storm raging
within a heart that rains
memory.
Death that crawls into the soul.
Honor!
Country!
The solemn duty of a soldier,
……… dying!
What more
could he do?
I do not know.
……………………………………
(2003… on the last day)
As of today
they are all gone.
I received a photo
and a message
that ‘Booker T’ has died.
I look at the photo
and know that I have gone home
with them.
Yet I am here,
alone.
I shall live
the rest of my days in memory
of them.
My Brothers in Arms.
How
… can I ever write
another poem
again?
