A FRAME OF MIND
A large post at a big art site that I belong to, is asking what is art, and saying silly things such as ‘it must be framed’, etc. The following is what I posted in reply.
Cal
Wonderful post Clare! Georgia O’Keefe once posed the same question (“What IS Art…anyway?).
Art… is true rebellion – the only form of rebellion that does not wish to destroy anyone.
Kill anyone.
As for frames: Sculpture needs none, as it IS its own frame. And sculpture is a beautiful 3 dimensional art (Yes, I do metal sculpture and am a fair welder).
The only frame for music… is time
For great literature… the publisher.
Art is no more, nor less than a wonderful rebellion thrown into the face of the world
… yet art goes forth without weapons of destruction and that last resort of argument…
War!
… and the destruction of all and others.
Just War where there is no compromise………… just death.
Having done both, may I say that………
our art is our secret last hope.
……… hope
for a better World!
