THEY ARE ONLY CHILDREN
They are so young
These soldiers they show
Far away in Iraq
Ready for duty you know
They are only children
I use to be one
A guardian on the front line
What has happened
I don’t recall the passage of time
They are only children
Why do I feel so old
When I look at their faces
The mind is willing
But the body can’t make the paces
They are only children.
