Camp Greaves night fall
North of the river the first obstacle
All winter they “Stand Alone”
A frozen land far from home
Patrolling and protecting the DMZ
On the frontier to keep others free
Summer the others arrive
To patrol and keep hope alive
The Currahee stay year round
To keep Seoul safe and sound
Entertainment is provided
But the soldiers can’t hide it
They are ever vigilant on the edge
Behind them a river over the ledge
Tomorrow he has liberty
A brief moment to be free
South of The Bridge and Injim Gok
To have fun and find a place to dock
Dressed in civvies before dawn
Crossing the bridge the soldier is gone
A teenager out of place
Walks with a military pace
As he shops the stores for gift
To keep his kid sister from getting miffed
Thoughts of the silent war are far
As he enters the little bar
Time to relax and have fun
At least until his twenty-four hours are done
