Mark I. Kirkmeyer

I wake, the leg is numb
I squirm in the bed
Until I can move my toes
Along with the motion
Comes the first pain wave
Like a flame wave
Washing over my body
After the wave
Pain settles down
Around the knee
Along the shin
Up the hamstring
Tylenol makes it
At the same time
I head for the latrine
To release my bladder
and my bowels release gas
I know I’ve a pinched nerve
