MAY THE EIGHTH

Back in nineteen forty-five,
Known to all as VE Day,
A special time for the world
Toward a peaceful way.

A Day for Senior Citizens
Once they have turned that Page
To Celebrate what many
Will find a coming of Age.

Then there is Mother’s Day
That’s not a happy one
Except for her memory
Left when her life was done.

And too, the day I was born
Oh, so many years ago
Wonder, like the hours today
Where did all of that time go?
