VICTIMS OF THE CASUAL GLANCE

Many died and that is surely true,
Almost all of them I never knew,
They died killing others and a few,
Died because their time was due.
Many die in war that is for sure,
Most survive to live some more.
In the end it matters not,
Who survives and who is shot,
Time sees all of us depart,
New soldiers born as new wars start.
For everyone is bound to chance,
Victims of the casual glance,
Those who think they are unique,
Find sadly that the flesh is weak
