Let us build a great big monument,
That towers in the sky,
Where upon it’s spire and Angel sits,
With tears wet in its eyes.
Let us build it for the children,
For their Mothers and their souls,
Who died in war so needlessly,
And perished in the coals.
Let us inscribe it with our true regret,
That we let those children die,
For we did not fight our wars for them,
But callously passed them by.
Let us view it with our shame exposed,
And ask, oh, why, oh why.
