They died in vain in Vietnam
As do all soldiers who die in war,
No hype nor pride nor drum,
Can extinguish the festering sore.

Soldiers die for the whims of others,
Who are the manipulators of the law,
Who take children from their Mothers,
To be sacrificed in a political war.

Soldiers do not give their lives away;
They defend themselves to the end,
No matter what the politicians say,
While we all sit back and pretend.
