Their souls rise from the battle field like invisible balloons,
Like beautiful flowers shedding seeds from their blooms,
On a heavenly wind soaring higher then higher,
Forming visions of love for memories to inspire
Each body melting away like the thawing of snow,
To soak as regenerating streams into the earth’s soil below
From where the beauteous splendour of nature’s rapport,
Germinates from the remains of those sacrificed in war.
It is a wisdom and loveliness that forms the invisible veil,
That divides the ugliness of life from loves finer detail.
It is a crossing that is taken from shadowy valleys of pain,
Into a glorious world that has no bitterness and strain.
Tis a bridge narrow and frail across the treacherous abyss,
But it leads to a paradise of unparalleled bliss
