Much more comes from war than sorrow,
For most will live to see the morrow,
Return to where they strengthen hope,
And help those needy folk to cope.
For what they learn is how to live,
How to survive and how to give.
Though some do lick their battle scars,
Dope their brains and frequent bars,
Most do strive with dauntless pride,
To honour those who bravely died,
And those who came back partly lost,
To those who now know of the cost.
None are more greatly loved than you,
The loved ones of the vanquished few.
