THE BATTLE SCARS REMAIN

We don’t fly flags much in Australia,
It has never been our way,
And perhaps it is our failure
That we don’t have much to say.
But a mate is a mate forever,
And our larrikin spirit is strong,
And we’ll stand back to back together,
To protect this land where we belong.
We don’t care where you come from,
We treat everyone the same,
And when it’s all said and done,
We have it all so can’t complain,
Freedom peace and happiness,
Though the battle scars remain.
